Puppet Workshop & Heritage Play Day celebrate simplicity

On Friday, February 17th and Saturday the 18th,  a light of sun shone through the dreary rainy days with two events celebrating old fashioned play to kick off BC Heritage Week. On Friday at the Arts Building, Sandy Buck of the Rababoo Puppet Theatre led a workshop in puppet making that saw children of all all ages bring their creations to life.

On Saturday, many of the attendees returned to participate in the SCMA's annual Heritage Play Day to try out a variety old-timey games and crafts such as Balancing Bird, Chinese jump rope and hacky sack, build your own board game and the ever-popular Rocket to the Moon/Butterfly to the Sun. If these games don't ring a bell, I'm not going to ring it for you, and suggest you come down to next year's Play Day to join in the fun! All in all, over 100 people came down the to SCMA to celebrate the simplicity of playing old fashioned games with friends.

Big thanks to Sandy Buck and Rababoo as well as all of the volunteers that helped make these events a success!
