Sacred Drum Workshop Photo Essay

On Saturday February 26th, the Sacred Drum Workshop was a wonderful and sold-out success as Squamish Nation’s Tsawaysia Spukwus led the participants in making their own ceremonial drum. As a snow storm blanketed the streets outside, Tsawaysia told stories regarding the tradition of drum making and the participants laughed, learned and worked together to create their own unique sacred drum. After the closing ceremonies, each participant left the museum smiling, holding their new drum and imparted with a new understanding of First Nation's culture.

Plans are in the works for summer workshops in drum making and cedar/wool weaving led by Tsawaysia, so stay tuned!
